As many of you are aware of, the lack of sleep in our communities has reached an all time high. The expectations that society creates for us has driven many teenagers to prioritize academics, social lives, and sports over receiving an adequate amount of sleep. Throughout our blog, we hope to bring the information to you on why your choice to overlook sleep is benefitting you negatively. We’re sure that many of you have all heard of how sleep deprivation is negatively impacting your health, both long term and short term. But we aren’t just going to bring up how it may affect you in the future, we want to show you how it is affecting you now!
Before we dive into that information in our future blog posts, we want to provide you with a few minutes to reflect and understand how much sleep you are getting on a daily basis and provide you with some tips on what isn’t working! We hope that this reflection will prompt you to look into our future blog posts and understand the impact it has on your own sleep.
Reflection Questions:
How much sleep do you receive on weekdays?
What time do you go to sleep at night?
What time do you wake up in the morning?
How often do you take naps throughout the day?
Do you take naps every day of the week?
How much sleep do you receive on weekends?
Do you sleep in on the weekends?
Is your sleep broken or deep?
How long does it take you to fall asleep?
Throughout our next few blog posts, we’ll detail why you enjoy staying awake at night, why sleeping in on the weekends decreases productivity, and how you can utilize your sleep to maximize productivity. We hope to see you in our future blog posts.
