Hey everyone!

Welcome back to today’s edition of sleep facts that can help you determine the best way to get sleep prior to big exams!

As many of you know, it is extremely important that you are well-rested prior to a big exam, event, or competition. In fact, sleeping is very important for solidifying new information that you may have learned the night before. It is also essential for you to be able to have full concentration and attention.

Here are some sleep tips for the night before your exam:

  1. Stop studying well (ie. one hour) before you intend to go to sleep.

  2. Drink plenty of water a few hours before you intend to go to sleep.

  3. Practice some meditation techniques to relieve exam stress.

  4. Turn the lights off earlier than normal.

  5. Lay out everything you need for the next day the night before to prevent stress during the night about the exam the next day.

Sometimes it’s also important to establish sleep routines the night prior to the night before the exam. For instance, if your sleep schedule has been off already, consider getting slightly less sleep the night before to allow yourself to be sleepy for the next day so you sleep well the night before the exam. If you have more than one night to reset your sleep schedule, establish a routine sleep schedule that allows you to wake up at the time you would wake up on exam day.

Your knowledge and brain waves are most optimal for successful work right after you wake up so try to wake up an hour before the exam.

See you next time,

Nandita and Sri
