Hi everyone,
Today we wanted to bring to light the amount of recommended sleep time that the CDC guides, what research shows, and how we are adhering to these guidelines.
To put this into perspective, the CDC recommends teens and adolescents receive 8-10 hours of sleep per 24 hours a day. On average, adolescents receive between 6.5-7.5 hours of sleep per night. Recent studies have shown that teenagers need around 9-9.5 hours of sleep for optimal brain development, due to the changes occurring within the human brain.
In terms of recommended sleep time, this is critical due to the brain development that is occurring. Studies worry about the lack of sleep causing issues in brain development in areas like the prefrontal cortex. Studies worry about the lack of sleep causing issues in brain development in areas like the prefrontal cortex.
In addition, during periods of adolescence, the brain goes through a second critical period of development. By not following the CDC guidelines on adequate sleep time, there can be large brain developments that fail to occur. Sleep is important because it improves physical, mental, and intellectual health by increasing synapse efficiency during sleep.
Here is a framework from the CDC on adequate sleep times:

See you soon,
