Hi everyone,
Welcome back! Today’s post is all about current research and innovations in sleep deprivation treatment.
Sleep tracking technology: People can monitor their sleep quality and make necessary changes to their sleep hygiene routines with the aid of wearable technology and applications that track sleep patterns.
Cognitive-behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) delivered through digital platforms: Delivering CBT-I through digital channels like online courses or mobile applications makes it more available to people who might not have access to in-person therapy. CBT-I is a highly effective treatment for insomnia.
Brain stimulation therapy: Non-invasive brain stimulation techniques such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) have shown promise in enhancing sleep quality in people with sleep problems.
Sleep-focused nutrition: Recent studies point to the possibility that nutrients like tryptophan and magnesium may contribute to the promotion of sound sleep. Magnesium glycinate and melatonin are two supplements that include these nutrients and may help some people have better quality sleep.
Sleep-focused digital therapeutics: Evidence-based programs that use digital technology to administer CBT-I and other sleep-related therapies include Sleepio and SHUTi.
Despite the fact that these technologies have great potential, further study is still required to completely understand their efficacy and any potential negative consequences. Before attempting any new sleep-related treatment, it is always a good idea to speak with a healthcare provider.
See you next time,
Nandita and Sri
